This role will allow you to attend both virtual and in person events. Speakers at these events typically include senior representatives from government, local authorities, architects, contractors, consultants, and more.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Telesales (selling conference delegate places & awards dinner places)
  • Consistently high levels of Telephone Calls (60 calls/120 minutes each day)
  • Monitor and report sales activity within the CRM system
  • Sourcing and generating new business development opportunities
  • Keeping up to date with industry developments and identifying and researching new growth areas for sales
  • At all times representing Step Connect² in a professional manner
  • Sales development and training provided

This role will allow you to attend both virtual and in person events. Speakers at these events typically include senior representatives from government, local authorities, architects, contractors, consultants, and more.

Step Connect² is on the hunt for either a journalism graduate or a graduate with a similar degree with a keen interest in the education sector and sustainability.

This role will allow you to attend both virtual and in person events. Speakers at these events typically include senior representatives from government, local authorities, architects, contractors, consultants, and more.

Topics range from net zero (in the context of new build and refurbishment / retrofit) to data collection to biophilic design and much more to improve today’s learning environments for the young people of tomorrow.

Responsibilities within this role include:

ARTICLES

Written on the basis of virtual and in person events, and also virtual roundtables. You will receive a recording of each session. 

– Demonstrate patience, prolonged focus and notetaking skills when listening back to each session to develop the foundation of the articles.
– Capable of synthesising information, highlighting key information from throughout the session and summarising with next steps.
– Deliver articles with a word count of 500-700 words (exc. event summary article) based on sessions that can last between 45 minutes to 90 minutes.
– Gather research (e.g. using Google Scholar or government websites) to back up investment programmes, statistics / figures, or interesting facts.

—> e.g. biophilic design’s role in reducing stress, for example. Here you would aim to find a psychological research study correlating with this.
– Event summary articles will provide an overview / introduction of the event, a few key themes and information to back these up (based on own knowledge / research as well as sessions from the event), concluding with a general summary and next steps.

– The ability to write for both experts and the layman where appropriate.

IN PERSON EVENTS

These are typically 2 days and include an Awards Dinner. You will attend a variety of conference sessions where you will write LinkedIn summaries on the day and articles post-event. 

– Can take notes and quickly deliver a clear summary after each session (about 150-200 words).
– Publish in a manner that will stand out and entice others to read and ‘Like’.

– Maintain a professional manner – both during the day and at the Awards Dinner.
– Confident in approaching professionals to develop relationships.

– Gather quotes to include in a summary article of the event and for promotional purposes.

WEBSITE | EMAIL | NEWSLETTER
– Review and write persuasive copy for each event’s website and emails for marketing purposes.

– Keen team player with strong communication skills who can liaise with the team.
– Continuously research government initiatives and investment for the devolved nations.
– Ability to pull key facts.
– Creative and forward thinking.

– Produce a monthly newsletter featuring abstracts from the articles you’ve recently produced, exhibitor/sponsor contributions and chat’s that you’ve had with professionals in our communities.

PRE-EVENT COMMUNICATION
– Prior to events, engage with exhibitors by email and [recorded] video calls via Microsoft Teams.
– Develop questions to ask exhibitors/sponsors to promote the event and their presence.
– Remain charming and professional throughout.
– Feel comfortable presenting behind a screen.
